Prisma Lamp suspended above a kitchen worktop

Context

A private client in Barcelona wanted to replace the existing kitchen luminaire with a suspended lamp designed around the space, their preferences and their lighting needs.

Objective

To create softly diffused kitchen lighting while making the methacrylate texture a defining feature and allowing the light source to remain visible through the translucent enclosure.

Materials & Lighting

The enclosure uses 3 mm extruded prismatic methacrylate, with a smoked methacrylate top panel that limits unwanted upward light. A 6W, 3000K LED tube provides the light source.

Role & Responsibilities

Design, purchasing, cutting, drilling, bending, bonding, electrical installation and final assembly, supported by SolidWorks development and KeyShot visualization.

6W LED tube with a 3000K colour temperature.

Ceiling suspension using steel cables.

Final Result

The completed lamp distributes a homogeneous light downwards and laterally, while the prismatic methacrylate creates the intended material effect and keeps the light source perceptible through the enclosure.
